Editor’s Letter

Fall

Welcome to Fall, and the new, quarterly version of our Editor’s Letter.  We’re seeking to use this space to share some of the intent and inspiration behind our seasonal collections, and Fall — our brand’s biggest and most exciting season — is a perfect place to start.

Our overarching theme for this season is In Situ, an ode to the confidence and maturity that we find in the daily motion of a full, busy life — the eternal coming-of-age that seems to take place in cities, especially.  Our team discussed our respective formative years spent in urban areas from New York to Shanghai, and how those experiences shaped how we think, act, and dress.  From the iconic montage of Andy’s work looks from The Devil Wears Prada (affixed to our moodboards!) to the NYC adage that your coat acts as your vehicle once temperatures drop, we found so much richness in the idea of clothes that make working women feel as comfortable, mobile, and graceful as possible in any situation.

We could not be more excited to be presenting this collection to our community.  Our much-loved staples are back by popular demand, alongside a thoughtful assortment of new designs that we’ve been waiting for what feels like ages to share.  A few highlights — elegant herringbone outerwear in cozy wool, elevated organic cotton knits in rich, earthen shades, and modern takes on timeless shapes that make for a forward-thinking fall aesthetic that is firmly rooted in the classics.

Another fun detail — the editorial imagery for Fall 2023 was shot in Downtown Los Angeles, the home of our new HQ and creative studio.  This transition will mark the first time that our core team has a central location to be and work together since early 2020, and we’re confident that you’ll notice the impact of that energy and collective inspiration as we continue to grow and evolve in our new city.  Coming of age, indeed.

As always, thank you for being on this journey with us.
